Bandido (wall mount)

“Bandido” is a compact yet striking bronze wall sculpture that captures the rugged charm of a donkey’s head in bold, textured detail. Scott Rogers’ mastery of form and patina is on full display here, as the rough-hewn surface and rich coloration evoke the dust, grit, and resilience of the American West. Far from a polished portrait, “Bandido” celebrates the humble donkey’s enduring role in frontier life—an indispensable companion for pioneers, miners, and vaqueros alike.

The sculpture’s title, meaning “bandit” in Spanish, adds an element of personality, as though this spirited creature carries a story of trailblazing adventure. Rogers’ sculptural style leans into expressive realism, capturing character over perfection, and his bronze work often reflects a deep connection to Western heritage and storytelling.

As a wall-mounted bronze, “Bandido” offers collectors a distinctive way to showcase Western art in a smaller, intimate format while still embodying Rogers’ signature energy and movement. This piece exemplifies how even a modest subject, rendered with texture and life, can become a focal point—a nod to the unsung heroes of the West whose strength and grit shaped history.
