Scott’s Piece Description

For me, the life of Jesus Christ was an invitation of, “Come, follow Me and do the things you have seen me do”. Is it possible that “The only way to know a thing is to be a thing”? Ponder the following with me…

To know love, one must be loving.

To know forgiveness, one must be forgiving.

To know Christ, one must be Christ-like.

I purposely closed His eyes to take the viewer on a personal inward journey of connection. The subtle angle of His palms, opened upwards to the Divine source and outwards towards mankind, acknowledges Him as the conduit, the mediator. I sent an image of this piece to a friend of mine in Dallas. He wrote me back, “Behold, the Lamb”. I instantly connected with the title and knew he had named the piece.

Curator Review

With arms open in upward and outward gesture, Behold, The Lamb invites communion—between earth and heaven, soul and Savior. This sculpture portrays Christ not in action, but in profound stillness: eyes gently closed, His countenance lifted in offering and reception. It is a moment of surrender and strength.

Scott Rogers avoids the traditional gaze outward. Instead, the closed eyes compel inward reflection, gently drawing the viewer toward personal connection. The gesture of the hands—reaching both to the Divine and to mankind—underscores His sacred role as mediator.

The composition echoes themes from the Last Supper: offering, humility, divine purpose. As with that sacred table, there is a quiet invitation here—not to look at Christ, but to follow Him.

The title, gifted unexpectedly by a friend, draws from John the Baptist’s words. Rogers recognized it immediately as the perfect name. The Lamb is present—not in triumph, but in love.
