Scott’s Piece Description
Is it possible that this ‘ole fellow has gotten a bad rap? He constantly portrayed in movies and cartoons as a villain. Maybe he’s just hungry!
What animal is not looking for its next meal and ain’t too concerned where it comes from. I have a little Shi-tzu dog and all he does is look for something to drop off the counter to eat. Even when he is playing or resting, he is the biggest ‘food’ opportunist on the planet.
Curator Review
Scott Rogers’ Coyote captures a creature long misunderstood—neither villain nor hero, but a survivor. With textured bronze sculpting, the artist gives life to the coyote’s careful, steady gait, alert ears, and lean form, evoking a presence that is both wary and watchful. There’s no growl or snarl here—only quiet determination.
Coyotes have roamed North America for millennia, adapting to deserts, plains, mountains, and cities alike. Their reputation as scavengers and tricksters has often overshadowed their remarkable intelligence, resilience, and role in the natural balance. In this piece, Rogers invites viewers to reconsider the animal—not as a menace, but as a mirror. Like the coyote, we all hunt for opportunity, security, or sustenance. Who among us isn’t, at times, just looking for a way to make it to tomorrow?
Rendered in Scott Rogers’ signature bold texture and form, Coyote reminds us to look beyond caricatures and see the story of survival written into every step.
