Scott’s Piece Description

The crowd is pressing ..…”Oh, but to get a glimpse”. Hear the shouts, “He is coming!” ….. ”Make Way!”….. “ The King is coming!” ….. “Behold, the Lamb”, “Hosannah!”.

Perhaps there is one in the crowd who finds himself silent, yet whose heart bursts forth with “Hallelujah!”

And then ….. there is the seeker ….. the one who has long cried out for the end of suffering. He looks, he beholds, it is revealed ….. “The Lamb of God!”

Curator Review

Lamb of God captures a moment of quiet triumph — a scene of sacred entry that echoes through centuries of faith and tradition. Rendered in bronze with reverent detail, the figure of Christ rides humbly atop a donkey, evoking the biblical account of His entry into Jerusalem. Unlike depictions that emphasize spectacle or grandeur, this sculpture draws the viewer inward. The posture is gentle, the movement calm, and the symbolism unmistakable.

In Christian tradition, the donkey represents peace and humility — a stark contrast to the warhorse of a conquering king. By choosing this mode of travel, Christ fulfills prophecy and subverts worldly expectations of power. The bare feet, outstretched hand, and flowing robe are sculpted with natural grace, reinforcing the message that greatness often arrives clothed in gentleness.

What stands out about this piece is its ability to balance stillness with anticipation. Though the crowd is unseen, their presence is felt. The viewer becomes part of the gathering — watching, wondering, perhaps yearning. The raised hand is ambiguous in the best way: is it a blessing, a greeting, or an invitation?

Scott Rogers’ work often blends narrative with emotion, and Lamb of God is no exception. Every curve and fold seems to echo not only artistic mastery but also reverence for the subject. It’s a piece that invites contemplation, not just of the historical moment it portrays, but of what it continues to represent: peace in the midst of turmoil, and divinity clothed in humility.

Whether placed in a private collection or public space, this sculpture serves as a visual reminder of the sacred in the everyday — and of the enduring impact of a single, symbolic journey.
