Scott’s Piece Description
How many people have hitched their fortune and future to ‘A New Star’? Be it a new business, a new relationship, a spiritual leaning, or a fresh start in a new land. A ‘star’ that represents possibility, promise, hope, the eternal ‘new beginning’.
Every person must ask and answer for themselves, “Am I alone?”, or, “Is there a source, a power, an unseen hand that is not only aware of but interested in my life?” If the latter is true, have guideposts been placed along the way……to guide my path? Be it a person, a book, a seeming random heard word, movie, or act of nature…..are they not all but a Divine mosaic, waiting to be read? Read from that place within each of us, that is connected to all that is. If such were the case, all we would need to do is be the witness of what is and be grateful for all that is.
Curator Review
Scott Rogers’ The New Star captures a moment both earthly and divine — a figure lifted by faith, pointing heavenward as a guiding light breaks across the horizon. This wise man, astride his camel, represents the eternal search for meaning and the courage to follow what cannot yet be seen.
Rogers invites viewers to reflect on their own journeys — the “new stars” they’ve chosen to follow, and the unseen guidance that has shaped their paths. With the sculptor’s signature balance of realism and reverence, The New Star becomes more than a depiction of the Nativity; it is a meditation on hope, renewal, and spiritual trust.
Every fold of the robe, every careful gesture, speaks of devotion — of a soul lifted toward purpose. In this timeless bronze, the promise of a new beginning shines bright, just as it did on that first Christmas night.
